Does anyone think that if I wanted to practice a spell and in order to practice it I needed someone to throw things at me that it would count as dueling?

That's one theory, I guess. Personally, I'd prefer to know I can do it before I'm in that situation.

Still seems a little strange to start with poison spikes when, hypothetically, the option to start with pillows is there.
