After ten true minutes of standing just a half-step outside of the circle of her peers, looming wordlessly, Edie thinks she finally understands the point of all these seemingly random confessions. She retreats to the bar, haggles for a long time with the barkeep, and eventually returns with an extremely short pour of grain liquor mixed with coala. It turns her teeth gritty and black.
